Can I substitute instant coffee for instant espresso?

My recipe calls for instant espresso, but no one carries that where I live. Would instant coffee taste the same?

Great question! Though it may not taste exactly the same, use the darkest roast of instant you can find and use double the amount . Do not increase the amount of liquid to compensate – this will give you the higher concentration of coffee oils that you would normally get with Espresso Powder. I think this will work just fine.

as long as its a strong coffee its ok whether it be instant or otherwise.

It's a fine substitute. It just won't have the kick and strength of espresso. Still leaves a good coffee flavor.
