Can I use instant coffee instead of espresso?

Posted by scottparat on 27 Jun 2009 | Tagged as: Instant Coffee

The recipe calls for 1/4 cup espresso, but all I have is INSTANT coffee. How much of the instant coffee will be about 1/4 cup espresso.

yes, I’ve done it many times. 1/4 cup water and then depends on how much coffee flavor you want and what you’re making. I’ve used it for cookies and mousse. So a few teaspoons for light and a tablespoon + for more flavor.

You can use instant coffee in place of espresso. Depending on if you want it strong or weak, just adjust the amount of instant you add to the water. I use it all the time in place of coffee.
