Can I use instant coffee like Folger’s for a home-made coffee scrub? And do I have to use raw sugar?

Can I just use plain old brown sugar? And if it’s supposed to be a body scrub, why are the coffee grounds so fine in texture. Would it not make more sense to use instant coffee?

How much coffee grounds do you personally use to make a pot of coffee?

The side of mainstream cans of coffee (e.g. Maxwell House, Folgers, etc) suggest to use 1/2 cup of coffee grounds to make a 10-cup pot of coffee.
Do you follow this suggested strength recommendation? How much coffee do you personally use?
