    Matthew is a bit wrong.

Firstly caffeine does not counteract lorazepam, they act on completely different receptors in the brain. Also the term "depressant" is not very clear and most people don’t know what that actually means.

If you are taking it during the day and it makes you sleepy you need to talk with your doctor. Do you take it daily or only when you need it? Have you recently started it?

People develop selective tolerance to some of the effects of lorazepam so over a few weeks the sedation goes away but it will continue to help with anxiety. The fact is is causing sedation does not exactly mean it is helping with your anxiety and even if it did not cause sedation it could still be helping your anxiety.

If you just started taking it the sleepiness should start to go away quickly. If you have taken it for some time then you need to talk with your doctor about changing the dose or switching to another drug. When people take lorazepam or any benzodiazepine class drug during the day the intention is that it will not make you really tired.

I would not use the coffee, talk with your doctor he will have a good idea of exactly what to do. Coffee won’t directly counteract lorazepam but caffeine is well known to cause anxiety so you may find your anxiety is not being properly controlled. Also caffeine lasts a very SHORT time, much less than lorazepam so you may "crash" and become even more tired. And if you get into a habit of using lorazepam to help your anxiety then using caffeine to reduce the tiredness from lorazepam that is the start of a bad pattern. And why would you need to eat instant coffee? Drinking it works fine.

This is why we have doctors, we ask them the medical questions. Friends are great but they are not typically the best source for medical advice.

I wouldnt recommend it. Loraepam is a depressant. Drowsiness is a good indication it is taking effect. By taking coffee which contains caffeine which is also a stimulate will perhaps counteract the Loraepam from activating.
